Finding My Croc Shoes
Let me just start by saying, I love my crocs shoes. I was one of the ones who balked at the shoes, taking forever to even try a pair on, mainly because I thought they were the ugliest shoes I’d ever seen, and those colors, who wore those bright, rubbery shoes?
And then I tried a pair on. I was almost embarrassed at how perfect these shoes were. I spent an entire year of my life mocking these shoes, and after only a few seconds, I was in love with the comfort. I walked around the store, and it was like gliding on air. But, after a look in the mirror, I was still a little bit skeptical, so I put them back on the shelf and decided against purchasing them.
Then, a few months later, as I was browsing a local shoe store, I came across the shoe that would change my life. The Mary Jane style Crocs. I once again tried them on, adn immediately knew I had to have them. I searched through the boxes to find my size and color, and then ran up to the cashier to pay for them. I put them on as soon as I got into the car, and then sat there smiling for a good five minutes before I drove away. I finally found the perfect shoe. Comfort and style. My feet have been thanking me ever since.
Then, a few months later, my life changed for the better. I was at a sporting good store, and I came across a pair of Crocs that didn’t have that bulky look I was used to. I tried on a pair, and surely enough that comfort was there. I frantically searched the shelves for a pair in my size and color. I put them on right there, took the box to the counter to pay for them, and walked out of the store wearing the shoes that I never wanted to take off.
Still, even though I myself had become a part of the Crocs community, I wasn’t totally sold on them. I still had only seen casual Crocs, and I thought they could never make a pair that would be dressy enough to wear out at night. But then, my thoughts changed when I was at a high end shoe store, and in the distance the most wonderful pair of Crocs caught my eyes. They were dressier than the dress shoes I had at home. I tried on a pair just to see if shoes that nice could still match the comfort of the previous Crocs I had worn, and it did. I was in awe. I wondered just how many different styles of Crocs were out there.
Now all I have to do is slip on my Hanalei, Rio, or Postiano’s and look pulled together and no one will ever know that my feet are wrapped in luxurious comfort and not screaming from being pinched together in some hard, inflexible shoe.
