Women have many different organs that together are called the ‘reproductive system’. Of these many organs, one of the most important in reproduction is the ovary, the organ that produces the egg which later can get fertilized. Because of its pivotal role in the body, the ovary is also a site of many important hormone productions, and can be considered important to many everyday processes. As such an active part of the female body, there are cells in the ovary that are constantly growing and maturing. Ovarian cancer is when there is a tumor in the ovary.
